Child nutrition services are an area of growing concern as Local Education Agencies endeavor to run efficient food service programs that both meet nutritional standards and encourage student participation. According to California district operations data recently released in ActPoint KPI, approximately 20 percent of food service programs operated at a deficit and the mid-point for lunch participation rate was 55 percent in fiscal year 2015-16.
